Bangladesh permits India to use their Chittagong, Mongla ports

In a historic decision, Bangladesh cabinet has approved the draft of an agreement allowing India to use Chittagong and Mongla ports.

It is for movement of goods from one place to another in India through Bangladesh territory at risk of congestion at the country’s premier seaport in Chittagong.

Four routes have been mentioned for the transhipment of goods – Chittagong Port/Mongla Port to Agartala via Akhaura, Chittagong/Mongla to Dawki via Tamabil, Chittagong/Mongla to Sutarkandi via Sheola and Chittagong/Mongla to Bibekbazar via Simantapu.

In total, Tripura will be benefited most through this decision of Bangladesh Government.
